Hermann Whole Brain Thinking Model

On the 22nd of July 2017, 20 students started their entrepreneurial journey at TYE 2017. Teamed up and ready to roar, teamwork, communication and brainstorming was what the first workshop was about. Throughout the first workshop, Adrian explained a very interesting theory of the human brain.

Categorized in 4 groups, we played a game to determine which colour you were. Turns out, I was green! The best way to describe each group was Analytical (Blue), Experimental (Yellow), Relational (Red) and Practical (Green). This activity was highly successful in getting the kids excited and thinking about how their brains work and how to play to their own personal strengths.

Everyone has access to all four quadrants but to varying degrees. Statistics indicate that 5% of the population prefer one quadrant, 58% prefer two quadrants, 34% prefer three quadrants and 3% prefer all four equally.

Here’s some traits that are suggested for each profile;

  • Analytical (Blue)
    • Logical
    • Analytical
    • Fact based
    • Quantitative
  • Practical Thinking (Green)
    • Organized
    • Sequential
    • Planned
    • Detailed
  • Relational Thinking (Red)
    • Interpersonal
    • Feeling-based
    • Kinaesthetic
    • Emotional
  • Experimental Talking (Yellow)
    • Holistic
    • Intuitive
    • Integrating
    • Synthesizing

This exercise was to swap cards to which suited your personality. Based on each color, a card would say what you would do or how you do something. If they didn’t match your thought process, you would then refer to another student to swap with. Making it a great option to meet new people!

Which quadrant do you think applies to you?
