TiE U 2023-24
TiE U (formerly known as TiE University), an initiative by TiE Global that’s all about igniting the entrepreneurial spirit in college students, guiding them from ideation to investment, and turning their campus ideas into thriving businesses!
Our program is designed to provide college startup teams with invaluable learning resources, mentorship from seasoned entrepreneurs, and exciting opportunities to participate in Global Mentoring Sessions, Startup Bootcamps, and Pitch Competitions. These interactions and experiences are the catalysts that help transform their startup dream into a tangible, successful business venture.
What lies ahead
Looking ahead to 2023-24, we’re elevating the competition by focusing even more on investment opportunities. Our top teams will have the thrilling chance to pitch directly to prominent angel investors, with the potential to receive investment pledges and pitch with investor backing for up to 500k USD. Additionally, special prizes totaling 25k USD await outstanding participants, making this year’s TiE U Competition inclusive of both early-stage startups and those seeking funding.
But the excitement doesn’t end there. The top 6 finalists will also have the opportunity to be mentored by industry experts through TiE U Nurture, a program that applies proven elements of the TiE Nurture program to select TiE college teams and mentors at 6 TiE chapters in India and the US. This initiative, running from August to December 2023, aims to make startups more investor-ready by leveraging organized mentoring, knowledge sessions, and investability assessment tools.

Past TIE U highlights
In 2023, TiE U had an incredible impact, bringing together 32 winning teams virtually from TiE Chapters in eight countries spanning three continents. Local college competitions saw participation from a whopping 1,455 startup teams, involving 3,676 college students. These teams received guidance from local TiE chapters and benefited from a wealth of local and global workshops, startup boot camps, and mock sessions.
To put things in perspective, teams from more than 420 universities applied to the competition. Eventually, teams from eight countries, representing 32 colleges, reached the semifinals of the global pitchfest. Among them, 12 teams from the US, Germany, and India made it to the finals held at TiECON Silicon Valley. Throughout the competition, judges from all corners of the world evaluated a diverse array of business ideas, spanning industries like healthcare, edtech, energy, life sciences, consumer products, agritech, food tech, e-commerce, and more.
